Because of
the large quantities of snow we received over the weekend, there was no school
on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as well. This meant that we spent many long hours
working in a garage with the supplies we brought from Sammamish.
On the first
day, we were able to get our drivebase running, albeit with a…suboptimal electronics
board. At the end of the meeting, we took off the electronics board and resumed
building.
The days
that followed were a mix of CAD, building with the parts we had, picking up manufactured
parts from our sponsor Intellectual Ventures, and building again. We also spent
a considerable amount of time enjoying the snow with sleds, a homemade luge,
and an igloo made of blocks molded with Kit of Parts totes.
As the
meetings progressed, we began to see our robot come together, discrete metal
parts merging into a unified whole. Over the course of these 5 days, we’ve seen
our creation transform from a few scattered parts to a truly impressive machine.
We hope to finish the building process within the next two days, in time to
film a robot reveal video.
